2017 National Sides – Day 2

by Team BV

Victoria’s women have won their opening four matches to lead the National Sides Championship ladder after day two, but face their most searching test of the event on day three.
Big wins over Northern Territory and the ACT left the Vics unbeaten and top of the table in the chase for the Marj Morris Trophy.
But a morning day three showdown with reigning champions NSW is set to determine both teams’ course for the rest of the round-robin tournament at Lockleys Bowling Club in Adelaide.
NSW have just two wins and a draw from their four matches and face must-win matches for the rest of the championships if they wish to overhaul the Vics and Queensland – who are also unbeaten in four.
Beating the Vics is the Blues’ only option in order to retain their title. Should Victoria keep winning, all eyes will turn to their afternoon match against Queensland which may well decide the Marj Morris Trophy winner.
Victoria, the reigning men’s national sides champions, got their campaign back on track with a seven-shot win over Northern Territory and a 62-40 triumph over ACT. They now are among a clump of five teams with 3-1 win-loss records in a wide open race for the Alley Shield.
