2017 ACC Bowls Championship

by Team BV

St Joseph’s College Ferntree Gully have come away with the inaugural Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC) Bowls Championship, narrowly edging out St Bernard’s College 4-0 in a tight final end of play at MCC Kew.
St.Joseph’s, who had an impressive shot difference of 37 after the pool games, carried on that momentum in the finals, defeating Parade College 9-3 in the semi-final and then following up with a Grand Final win that saw the team take the inaugural Championship Pennant and Trophy back to school.
The ACC had previously run a junior bowls competition at Buckley Park BC, but this was the first competition that had been run as an open event.
For many of the schools, it was their first time bowling, and for some, they managed to fit in a practice or two at their local bowling club beforehand!
The event was well attended, with over 50 students on the green, which included 16 teams and 10 of the 12 ACC Schools participating in the event.
Congratulations to all 16 teams from the ACC who competed and special thanks to Executive Officer from the ACC, Paddy McKenna, and MCC Kew Sports Club for supporting the day.
