Vic v SA 2017 – Day 1

by Team BV

Both Victoria’s men and women have taken 2-0 leads in their best-of-five Test series against South Australia at Ocean Grove Bowling Club.
Victoria’s women got off to a turbocharged start, winning the first Test 83-39 and backing up with another dominant 30-shot win in the second Test.
For Victoria’s men, there was a bit more grinding through the gears needed to get the job done against the strong SA side – especially in the second Test where the Vics fought back from a mid-match deficit to win 59-53.
The victory came on the back of wins to Matthew Flapper – clearly relishing playing at his home club – and Jackaroo Barrie Lester.
Aaron Wilson’s four was beaten 25-18 – Flapper’s nine-shot win and Lester’s rink by four addressing and erasing the deficit.
Earlier in warm, windy conditions, the Victorian men had produced three strong rink wins in the opening Test to run out 71-45 winners.
All three Victorian women’s fours – skipped by Australian representative Carla Krizanic, rising star Tiffany Brodie and the experienced Brooke Edwards – posted strong wins in both Tests.
A good crowd was on hand for both the morning and twilight Tests.
The third and fourth Tests are scheduled for Thursday, February 23 at Ocean Grove BC, starting at 11am and 4pm respectively.
