Award recognition for Bowls Victoria volunteer
Bowls Victoria would like to congratulate Edithvale’s Claire Baskett, who was recognised as a finalist for Volunteer of the Year at the recent Disability Sport & Recreation Awards.
Claire, along with all of her club duties, has been involved in the coordination of the Victoria’s Bowlers with an Intellectual Disability Squad for a number of years.
The squad meets regularly at clubs around Victoria to provide training and coaching for bowlers with an intellectual disability. Claire also support bowlers at other events, including the Australian Open.
Claire is also the Tournament Director for Bowls Victoria’s Integrated Pairs Tournament, which will take place on 22 January 2017 at Berwick BC.
Claire was nominated by Bowls Victoria’s Disability Support Committee for the award, and it’s clear that without the support of Claire, and her husband Glen, the squad would not be possible.
