Victoria v Tasmania Under 18 series
Breakthrough performances at recent 2016 State tournaments have earned Jarryd Davies, Kira Bourke and Lisa Trewarne call ups to the Victorian Under 18 squad to play Tasmania in the July school holidays.
New State Under 18 boys champion Jarryd (Fitzroy Victoria) has been named in the seven-player boys team – along with older brother Lauchlin – for the Test series at Kings Meadows Bowls Club in Launceston from July 5-7.
Kira, 13, and Lisa, 14, are part of the Victorian girls’ squad after huge performances at both Under 18 Championship Week in late March, and at senior events during April.
Kira (Maryborough Golf) made the final of the State under 18 girls final before losing to senior Victorian team regular Tiffany Brodie.
Then she starred in the Central Victoria senior women’s team’s run to the semi-finals of the Women’s Region Sides Championship.
Lisa made the semi-finals of the Under 18 State singles, before going on to win the State women’s fours championship in April.
She teamed with State Under 18 teammate Mikayla Long – also bound for Tasmania – in a four skipped by Australian rep Carla Krizanic and including Tiffany Brodie to take out the Victorian title.
