Betty Collins OAM Challenge Cup

Another successful weekend was held for the 2016 Betty Collins OAM Challenge Cup, held on April 2 and 3 at North Balwyn Bowls Club, and won by a team from the Sandbelt Region.
 
This year was the 11th Challenge Cup  and was hosted for the fifth time by North Balwyn Bowls Club, with 32 women’s teams travelling far and wide across Victoria to compete.
 
Rainbows from the Sandbelt Region (Leila Levy, Karen Wilson, Lorraine Burke, Ann McCarthy and Desiree Macaulay) won the tournament, with Ocean Grove from Geelong Region, including Bowls Victoria Deputy President Barbara Gilbert, the runners-up.
 
Third place went to Yarra from Yarra Region, with Yarraville/Footscray (Metro West Region) fourth.
 
Official guests who attended included Bowls Victoria Chief Executive Graeme Bridge, State Member for Kew Tim Smith MP and Mayor Jim Parke and Cr Judith Voce from City of Booroondara.
