2016 Mitcham Classic

There will be more than 5,000 prizemoney up for grabs in the 2016 Mitcham Classic – featuring teams selected by invitation.
The event at Mitcham Bowling Club on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10 will be one of some prestige with an international flavour, limited to 28 teams of leading bowlers invited from New Zealand and across Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate.
This will bring a total of 112 bowlers to Mitcham and the event, now in its eighth year, attracts strong spectator interest.
The event has proved itself to be an outstanding success among both bowlers and spectators.
Comments from some of the participants include the following:  “ …it was one of the best tourneys I’ve played in.  Very well organised and a great bunch of blokes to play against…”
The select field will play a combination of fours, pairs and singles disciplines over the two days.
Mitcham Bowling Club says the event brings a classic bowls competition of extremely high standard to the City of Whitehorse and gains recognition for the club as a progressive, innovative sporting organisation.
Mitcham has a total active membership of more than 300 men and women.
The Club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008.
It is an integral part of the local community, providing a vital recreational and social outlet for people of all ages and means and is very proud of its achievements and standing in the district.
