Media Statement – Bendigo v Eaglehawk

by Team BV

Bowls Victoria is aware of an alleged incident in the weekend’s 2015-16 Bendigo Bowls Division Pennant A1 preliminary final between Bendigo and Eaglehawk.
On receipt of a formal complaint, once any allegations of this nature are established, the disciplinary provisions available to Bowls Victoria under its Regulations and Rules for Competition will commence through a thorough process to determine what actually took place.
We understand that passion is an integral part of any sporting competition, and that competitors’ temperatures can sometimes rise.
But that said, there is no excuse for unsportsmanlike conduct, particularly that which can bring the sport into disrepute.
Bowls Victoria stresses the point that we do not condone violence of any kind in our sport.
We are also aware that an appeal has been lodged by Eaglehawk Bowls Club against the result of the match.
Please note the match appeal will be heard by Bendigo Bowls Division as it is the controlling body of the Saturday Pennant competition.
