Victorians shine in Trans-Tasman
Victorian trio Barrie Lester, Carla Krizanic and Tiffany Brodie have helped Australia to Trans-Tasman series glory in New Zealand.
The Jackaroos won five of the six Trans-Tasman trophies on offer, including the big prizes – the overall senior and development trophies.
Australia’s men’s team, which included Mulgrave Country Club’s Lester, had their tournament wrapped by up by day two of the three-day series.
Lester also had the added honour of skipping Australia’s pairs outfit on the last day.
New Zealand’s senior women defeated the Australian team featuring Sunbury and Clayton star Krizanic (nee Odgers) in their series.
But Australia won the senior overall trophy for men and women 60-48 on combined wins.
Teenager Brodie, from Fitzroy Victoria, was part of the Australian Development Squad and the 17-year-old had a successful debut at senior international level alongside the cream of Australia’s young bowlers, sweeping their six-Test series.
