Victoria v South Australia Test series
Victoria’s men and women have both been defeated by South Australia in their five-Test series in Adelaide.
Victoria’s men lost the deciding fifth Test at Marion Bowls Club on Friday 65-59 after going into the Test locked at 2-2.
Victoria’s women lost 3-2 overall, but their fate was sealed by Thursday afternoon after third and fourth Test defeats.
They won the fifth Test on Friday 57-52.
For Victoria, Gayle Edwards (Lalor BC) was named women’s player of the series, and Dale Jones (Mentone Edge) men’s player of the series.
In two bright spots for the Vics, Rebecca McMahon and Elise Cowan both celebrated state milestone games during the series.
McMahon, from City Bowls Club Colac, received her 200-game badge from Bowls Victoria President John Fisher during the series.
Known to all as BJ, her commitment and dedication to the state cause was praised by Victorian coach Jan Hurst, as well as her preparedness to play in any position asked.
Sunbury’s Cowan played her 100th game for Victoria in the opening Test. It brings her into triple figures for the state alongside father Mark, who played 232 games for Victoria’s men.
