Impressive new clubrooms for Craigieburn BC

This is what $1.8 million in funding can build – a sensational set of new clubrooms for Craigieburn Bowling Club that will become an important community hub for the northern Melbourne community.
The club, which has more than 100 members in one of Australia’s fastest growing regions, believes it can boom as a result of the investment by Hume City Council in its impressive clubrooms, which opened in mid-February.
Hume Mayor, Councillor Helen Patsikatheodorou, says the council is proud to support what it calls a “thriving community organisation”.
“Hume City Council has invested $1.8 million in a terrific building to support a bowling club that offers so much to our community,” she says.
“Craigieburn Bowling Club was established in 1983 and initially utilised builders’ huts as clubrooms, and the club has grown tremendously in recent years.
“Volunteers give many hours to nurture the club so that people can participate in a recreational sport and meet new friends.
“The people of Craigieburn Bowling Club are some of the finest you’ll meet, and Hume City Council is so proud to support this thriving community organisation.”
The new centre was officially opened in mid-February, with Bowls Victoria Chief Executive Graeme Bridge among those in attendance.
It includes a social room that may be used for a variety of purposes, such as carpet bowls, seniors’ activities, club functions, and community get-togethers.
A members’ room connects to the social room via a retractable wall, and currently presents a number of dart boards that are used by the Craigieburn Darts Club.
The development includes a kitchen and bar area, as well as two verandas that allow people to watch the bowling greens in comfort.
The bowls club provided all the furnishings and equipment for the new clubroom, and funded a top-quality catering oven, as well as building the garden setting around the rooms.
The clubroom was designed by Croxon Ramsay and constructed through Ireland Brown Construction.
Hume City Council will host regular physical activities at the clubroom, to assist residents in senior years to keep fit.
The Craigieburn Bowling Club is located at 245 Craigieburn Road, Craigieburn.
