Bowled over at Government House

by Team BV

More than 400 people were given the chance to try bowls as Bowls Victoria took part in the 2016 Government House Open Day celebrations on Australia Day.
Bowls Victoria was invited by our Patron, the Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau, to conduct a Come and Try display in the grounds of Government House as part of Government House Open Day.
People of all ages and backgrounds got the chance to try bowls, with Australian representative Barrie Lester, Bowls Victoria’s Participation and Club Development Manager Scott Nicholas and Bowls Victoria’s Communications and Marketing Manager Guy Hand helping participants get to grips with the game.
There were junior games for the younger ones, and two full-size rinks set up for both adults and juniors to try the sport.
The vast majority of those who took part had never played bowls, and most who took part in playing full-size bowls on the day were family groups.
Bowls Victoria would like to thank both the Governor of Victoria and her team for their hospitality on the day, and all those who took part.
It was a privilege to introduce you to our great sport.
