Get On The Green Program 2008-09

'Get on the Green' is one of the variations of social bowls played in Australia. (GOTG) program – a concept developed in conjunction with the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).

The GOTG provides a great opportunity to participate in a relaxed and easy-to-play sporting environment. The casual and social nature of the program makes it appealing to all ages. The playing environment is designed to be fun, fast-paced and to suit all skill levels. GOTG is aimed at males and females 18 – 44 years old with a specific focus on 25 – 35 year olds.

The program comprises the following:

  • A structured program – a weekly competition played on a weekday evening with modified game formats.
  • The GOTG program also offers flexibility in allowing participants the option of registering as a team or as an individual.
  • Equipment – all equipment will be provided by the bowls club at no extra cost. Participants need only wear casual clothing and flat-soled shoes.
  • Coaching – provide general instruction to participants on the basic skills of bowls.

Minor changes to GOTG 2008-09
Spendless cards will not be a part of the program.  They have been replaced by 100 environmentally friendly green shopping bags, which will be given to each club as a sign on bonus (upon purchase of a value pack - merchandise).  These bags remain the property of each club and can be used for any purpose (raffles, gifts to members, gifts to participants, prizes, etc)

Merchandise will be sold in value packs to enable clubs to take advantage of quality merchandise at a heavily discounted rate.

Other benefits are:

  • Access to the Taylor Vector (green in colour) bowls offer @ $370, limited to participating clubs;
  • A copy of the Member Conversion Resource available at a discounted rate (when produced);
  • GOTG clubs will be listed on the BA website for increased advertising exposure;
  • Support from their GOTG STA and National coordinator.

Pricing:
There are no individual participant fees payable to BA.  The only cost to clubs is the (heavily reduced) cost of the merchandise value packs. The great news for clubs is GOTG merchandise is now available at a heavily reduced price. This will enable those clubs partaking in a GOTG program, the ability to offer more tangible benefits to participants

Merchandise:
Merchandise for participants and prizes will be available for purchase at a heavily discounted rate – see attached document. Please note: the ordering process has simplified. Clubs should order their ‘packs’ through Bowls Australia.

Participant names:
Clubs are encouraged to keep a record of participant names for their own use.  This list will form the ideal basis for recruitment of new members and/or advertising club social functions.

Reporting:
Clubs are requested to report to the state/territory the total number of GOTG participants at the conclusion of their program.  This will be the only information reported to BA and will be used for generic reporting only of overall figures (i.e. not names).
