Hampton BC signs up for Play Bowls Month

by Team BV

Hampton Bowls Club in Melbourne’s south-east has become the first club to sign up for Bowls Victoria’s exciting new initiative to drive participation in our great sport – Play Bowls Month.
The entire month of October 2016 will be Play Bowls Month, and it’s a call to action for clubs in Victoria to run events to get people out on the green!

This could mean clubs running Come & Try Days, starting their Barefoot Bowls program for the year, or running some other kind of event to get people active through bowls, like Jack Attack.
Vice-President of Hampton BC and Hampton’s Play Bowls Month Coordinator Rob Coulson says running barefoot bowls and come and try days has previously helped boost membership at their club, and they were keen to be involved from the get-go with Bowls Victoria’s new initiative.
“We believe it’s important to get out there and try and get new people involved,” Rob says.
“We want to take advantage of Play Bowls Month to promote our come and try days that attract older adults, and our barefoot bowls where we try and attract younger adults who might still be working.
“Play Bowls Month ties in with what we’re already planning to do this year and we’re really pleased that Bowls Victoria is running this initiative and we can be a part of it.”
Bowls Victoria is building a calendar of Play Bowls Month events featuring all those clubs in Victoria running Come & Try Days throughout October.
So we need clubs to register their event with us to ensure they get the full benefits of their club being included as part of Play Bowls Month.
We’ll include a list of all upcoming Play Bowls Month events on our website. You’ll find a list of those registered so far here
Play Bowls Month is a free initiative for clubs affiliated with Bowls Victoria. It’s proudly supported by VicHealth and our charity partner MOVE Muscle, Bone and Joint Health.
