Bowls on show to the world

by Team BV

MOVE with Bowls is excited to be hosting an indoor bowling green at the 2016 World Congress on Active Ageing (WCAA) from 28 June to 1 July at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The 2016 WCAA event will be the largest gathering of experts and stakeholders in the field of active ageing ever assembled with international representatives from more than 30 countries.

With governments worldwide focusing on keeping their ageing populations healthier and more active, this conference provides the perfect platform to encourage people to MOVE with Bowls.

“We want all Australians to take control of their own health and incorporate physical activity into their daily routines to help prevent injury, reduce pain and improve their quality of life,” said Linda Martin, CEO of MOVE.

Research has found that regular exercise is one of the most effective treatments for conditions that affect muscles, bones and joints. It can help improve mobility and flexibility of joints, muscle strength, posture and balance, as well as decrease pain, fatigue, muscle tension and stress.

“Bowling is a great social game, it encourages people of all ages and abilities to participate in physical activity – you don’t have to be running marathons to stay active,” said Ms Martin.

MOVE with Bowls is a joint initiative of MOVE muscle, bone & joint health (the new voice of Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria) and Bowls Victoria.

Bowls Victoria will help run the bowls display, allowing those attending the conference to get on the green and test-drive our great sport.
