Woodend Bowling Club sees success in Bowls Month

Last year, Woodend Bowling Club ran a hugely successful events program for Bowls Month, and this October the club is again taking part in the annual Bowls Victoria participation campaign. Last year, Woodend Bowling Club ran a hugely successful events program for Bowls Month, and this October the club is again taking part in the annual Bowls Victoria participation campaign.

The calendar will be packed with fun (and free!) bowls and social events for individuals, families, friends, groups, and local sports clubs and businesses to enjoy throughout the month.

“Following the fantastic atmosphere and overall success of our ‘Battle of the Sports Clubs Under Lights’ event last year, which drew around 100 people including players, spectators and bowling club helpers, we’ve decided to do it all again – except even bigger and better!” says Mike Dornau, Woodend Bowling Club President.

Events info
As part of Bowls Month, Woodend Bowling Club is organising the following free events for the local community:

Battle of the Sports Clubs – Friday 12 October, 6:00PM to 9:00PM.
Battle of the Businesses and Organisations – Friday 26 October, 6:00PM to 9:00PM.
An OPEN DAY to introduce community members to the club and the game – Sunday 21 October.

Target market
“We are inviting all members of our community to enter and play a social round robin event to see which Woodend organisation is the best at bowls,” Mike says. “In addition to local sports clubs, we have refined the format of our Bowls Month to include the second ‘battle’ for any local organisations and businesses that want to try something new and exciting.”

A bowls experience
“Bowls is an easy game to learn for those who have never played before. It’s perfect for players of any age, gender and ability. We definitely encourage mixed teams to enter our competitions, and every team’s supporters and spectators are more than welcome to come along and cheer,” Mike says.

Get involved
“All people have to do is organise a team of four and we will supply everything else: the bowls; the opponents; and even the sausage sizzle,” Mike says. “Everyone who attends will also have the chance to enjoy our bar facilities at famous low Crackerjack Bowls Club prices.”
