Korumburra Bowling Club has not previously participated in Bowls Victoria’s Bowls Month program, but this October the club is set to shine with a ‘Twilight Bowls’ event to attract bowlers that cannot commit to playing bowls on the weekend – or who simply love the idea of bowling under lights with new and old friends!

Events info
The Twilight Bowls event will be a Triples competition running for seven weeks. “This will be our first official Bowls Month activity, but several years ago we ran a Twilight Season held on Thursday evenings for six-to-eight weeks,” says Vera Sund from Korumburra Bowling Club. “We didn’t have a lot of luck with the weather back then, so fingers crossed we’ll enjoy a great Spring season this time around.”

Target market
“Our goal with Bowls Month is to encourage members of the local community to enjoy their bowls through the week as much as possible,” Vera says. “The program will be open for members and any newcomers interested in coming along, with the prospect of us encouraging them to join us at future events and perhaps eventually becoming new members themselves.”

Get involved
“The club as a whole is very keen to welcome new people and we can’t wait for them to play more bowls and join us at our ‘Happy Hours’ held each Friday evening. I would encourage the people of Korumburra and surrounding areas to come along and check out what the Bowls Club has to offer,” she says.

Korumburra Bowling Club also hosts monthly tea nights, raffles, footy tipping competitions and other social activities to help raise the club’s profile and reach out to a broad cross-section of the local Korumburra community.
